OUR GOAL to provide safe and healthy urban lawn care, emitting zero carbon footprint while educating and influencing individuals and communities to re-think traditional viewpoints and practices toward American lawns to help improve the state of our environment. WHAT WE DO MowTown, Inc. is a 100% Eco-Friendly Lawn Service using completely organic fertilizer products and manual push mowers and equipment. Instead of noisy and polluting trucks, we ride bicycles pulling bike cargo trailers with our equipment in tow. Besides general lawn upkeep, we offer soil testing, compost bin set up and maintenance and flower bed weeding. WHY WE DO IT For a healthier environment for everyone. It’s a win-win. Our lawn maintenance is healthier for you and your family, your pets – and ultimately our Earth. OUR HISTORY MowTown, Inc. just started business the summer of 2008 and provides service to the Northwest Side of Chicago. Carol Brewer, founder and president, actively participates in all aspects of the business. • A few summers back, Brewer, a Chicago resident and long-time environmentalist, found herself repeatedly watching and listening to the various noisy and “dirty” lawn service companies parade each week down her quiet northwest-side neighborhood. She contemplated why “someone” hadn’t come up with a cleaner and greener way to provide lawn care to Chicago’s typically postage-stamp lawns. That thought was a seed that grew and wouldn’t go away. The idea of “someone” eventually evolved into being Brewer, herself. • Already a successful business owner of 14 years in a completely unrelated field, Brewer took on a new challenge. With the support of her staff she was able to immerse herself in research and study, and made unbelievably resourceful connections in the organic lawn professional community. Besides the original drive to open a pollution-free company, the additional staggering health statistics that Brewer learned about only increased her motivation. She realized that we put ourselves at enormous health risk when exposed to traditional synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. • Brewer hired a group of young, energetic, and environmentally conscious individuals to help start up MowTown, Inc. and team up to cut carbon footprints one lawn at a time and help to change the way we do things. • Brewer’s goal is to shed some new light on the traditional practice of lawn care. But her ultimate goal is to encourage others to think about all choices we make and how they may affect our health and the environment. To urge eachother to push even further and to consider the services and businesses we hire out and question how they are doing things. MEMBERSHIPS & ASSOCIATIONS |
